In Goa British was established British Army or Cemetery by the British in 1802. these believed to be over 180 years old, it is the only memorial to the British occupation of Goa during the Napoleonic period.
During from 1799 to 1813 of the Napoleonic Wars , the British Military Cemetery was built to serve the British garrison of Rs 10,000 stationed at Fort Cabo to prevent Goa from falling into French hands.
Cemetery has 56 headstones and 47 tombstones, the oldest dated 1808 and the last dated 1912. It can be reachable by road taking of linking the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and Raj Bhawan.
Near the English Cemetery, one can go to Cabo Raj Bhavan, also known as the Governor’s Palace, which will be the official residence of the Governor of Goa. Also visit our nearby Cabo Women’s Church.
